Traditional karate
Our traditional classes are suitable for men and women of all ages.
You do not have to be fit to begin and you will get a warm welcome and plenty of encouragement.
Come along and give it a go. Don't be discouraged at the thought of being the beginner in the class, we were all beginners at one time. All our instructors and students will make you feel most welcome and you will leave the class feeling invigorated.
If you like the thought of a traditional art that has not changed in many years and the traditional uniform and belt system this is the class for you.
We cover all aspects of traditional karate training.
- Basics, ( Basic pundhing and kicking techniques)
- kata, ( Pre-arranged forms combat drills)
- Bunkai ( Applications of the kata with an opponent)
- Kumite and kumite drills (Free sparring and sparring drills)
- Hojo undo (supplementary training with traditional okinawan weights)
Karate will not only train your body it will train your mind and memory remembering all the routines you will be taught can be quite a challenge.
Our classes cater for all levels of experience from beginner to black belt and beyond.
Effective self defence is the main aim of traditional karate and our instructors have many years experience at teaching the art.


Freestyle Karate
If you are looking for a fast pace and great fun workout this is a class for you.
Our freestlyle class is a great way for men and women to challenge yourself and get a great feeling of accomplishment.
No need for a karate uniform jogging bottoms and T shirt is fine for this class. A less formal way to enjoy martial arts.
We use hand pads and gloves and cover a wide variety of punching and kicking techniques that will really get the heart pumping, BUT you go at your own pace we all have different levels of fitness and our instructors know this and cater for all abilities.
No boring same old routine, each class is fresh and we change the lesson plan on a regular basis to keep all students interested.
Classes include
- A good warm up
- Padwork with hand pads
- Kick shield work
- Sparring routines and sparring
- Ground work (Judo type training)
- Self defence
- Stretching exercises
